The importance of wetlands is now well known. By storing water, they prevent flooding and maintain flows during dry weather periods. Wetlands filter out impurities and provide an unequaled richness of habitat for wildlife. Large or small, wetlands are hugely important to wildlife. The best way to preserve and improve your wetland is to develop and implement a sound management plan.

Take a moment to assess the needs of your wetland...

  1. Is your wetland provincially classified?
  2. Have you observed a variety of wildlife in your wetland?
  3. Are there nesting and nursery opportunities for wildlife?
  4. What are the adjacent influences on your wetland?
  5. Are there non-native invasive species in your wetland?
