Streams are crucial for ecological health. They are like the arteries of the land, carrying life throughout watersheds. There are very few, if any, streams in southern Ontario that have not been impacted by human activities, mostly by either farming or urbanization. Much is now known about how streams work and there are fairly simple scientific methods of assessing the health of a stream.
