Ponds are also a very important home for
wildlife. Many ponds are suffering from the drought conditions of the last few
summers. Lower water levels and algae problems are common. There are no magic

needs of your pond...
- Do you want your pond to be environmentally
friendly
or just a hole with water in it?
- Does your pond become choked with algae in
the summer?
- What are the water flow characteristics of
your pond?
- Is the edge steep and hardened or sloped
and vegetated?
- Is there a variety of plants growing in and
around the pond?
- Is a large percentage the pond edge shaded?
